How Much Does Uber Eats Pay Per Mile and Per Hour?

November 25, 2019 By Ridelancer

How Much Does Uber Eats Pay? – Nowadays, many things are easier and simpler to do, including having our food delivered. One of the most popular food delivery services is Uber Eats. Uber Eats allows customers to order food and have it delivered by Uber Eats drivers.

Here in this article, we will tell you briefly about what Uber Eats is and then we will answer the question “how much does Uber Eats pay?” as well as tell you other related details.

What is Uber Eats?

Uber Eats is a food delivery service that allows users to order food and have Uber Eats drivers pick up and deliver the food to them.

Working as a driver is flexible because Uber Eats drivers are contractors as they work whenever they want to.

Uber Eats Drivers’ job

how much does uber eats pay

Although Uber Eats is a food delivery service, Uber Drivers are not the ones who handle the payment. Uber Drivers’ job is limited to picking up and delivering requested food to the customers.

And being contractors, the drivers don’t follow the company’s schedule. Instead, they make their own schedule.

How Much Does Uber Eats Pay Per Hour?

Next, how much does Uber Eats pay? Uber Eats drivers can expect to get paid about $8 to $12 hour after expenses. Keep in mind that this number is an estimate as the pay varies from hour to hour and day today.

To maximize the pay, a driver can choose to work during rush hours like during lunch and dinner.

Here is the formula:

Payout = pickup fee + mileage fee + time fee + drop-off fee – Uber’s fee + tips

Let’s make it clear with an example. Suppose the pickup fee is $1.50, the mileage fee is $0.50/mile, the time fee is $0.20/minute, the drop-off fee is $1.00, the Uber’s fee is 25% and there is no tip.

The distance covered is 4 miles, taking about 5 minutes. The payout for this delivery will be = $1.50 + $2.00 (4 miles x $0.50/mile) + $1.00 (5 minutes x $0.20/minute + $1.00 = $5.50 – $1.37 ($5.50 x 25% Uber’s fee) = $4.13. The total payout is $4.13 without tip.

New Pay Model

There is good news for Uber Eats drivers. Recently, a new pay model is being rolled out by Uber Eats in some cities in the U.S. This new model shows the customer drop-off location as well as estimated earnings on request acceptance screen.

On the old model, Uber Eats drivers weren’t able to see both. The drop-off location is not visible. Neither is the exact estimate of the payout of a delivery. Hopefully, this new pay model will be rolled out to other areas and provides a clear explanation of how the payout estimation is calculated.

Bonuses and Tips

Uber Eats drivers can earn more than than $8 to $12 per hour by taking advantage of bonuses that Uber offers and receive tips from customers. For the bonuses, Uber offers Boost and Surge.

Both Boost and Surge are earning multiplier features applied to the net earnings. Uber activates Boost in certain areas where the demands are high and Surge during certain times where the demands are high.

As for the tips, Uber doesn’t take any fee out of it. The tips are for the drivers to keep. Yes, 100% of it. While tips can increase the total payout the drivers receive significantly, they are not consistent. Tips, after all, depending on the customers.

Conclusion

So, how much does Uber Eats pay? About $8 and $12 per hour after expenses. Again, this is an estimate. A driver can earn more or less than that, depending on many factors like the number of deliveries, Uber’s fee, tips, bonuses, and so on. We hope this answers your curiosity regarding the Uber Eats payout.
