How Does It Work?
Are you already signed up to be a Postmates courier? If you are, one of the first things you need to do is to complete the application process, followed by linking the welcome kit and the Postmates prepaid card.

Postmates offers a delivery service. When a Postmates courier accepts a delivery order, they pay for the items with the card. The courier does not pay for the item with their own money.
Rather, it is the customer that pays for the item. This whole process is facilitated by the card which loads the customer payment.
Postmates prepaid card works more or less like this:
- After an order is placed, Postmates then loads the customer’s payment onto the prepaid card.
- At the pick-up, the courier uses the prepaid card that they hold to pay for the item. Note: the item is not paid by the courier but by the customer.
- After the order is completed, the courier will get paid. If the customer gives them tips, the courier will get the entire amount without any reduction.
How to Activate Postmates Prepaid Card?
The Postmates prepaid card will come with the welcome kit you receive after signing up. Before you can use it, you will need to activate the prepaid card first.
As said earlier, once you set up the card, Postmates will start the background check on you. The background check will not be done until the card is set up. There are two ways you can set up the card: via Postmates Fleet App and via the website.
Activate the Card from Postmates Fleet App
- Open the app
- Tap the “Menu”
- Tap your picture then “Prepaid Card”
- Next, tap “Activate New Card” and enter the card’ identifier
- Enter the last 4-digits and follow the prompt

- Go to fleet.postmates.com/settings/card
- Enter the card’s identifier
- Enter the last 4-digits and follow the prompt
How to Use The Card?
Using the card is very easy. When you arrive at the pick-up location, the app will tell you to pay for the item with the card.
When this happens, give the card to the cashier and pay for the item. Since the card is a prepaid one, it doesn’t have funds on it until there is an order to pick-up that needs payment.
In Case You Lose the Prepaid Card
If you lose your prepaid card, you need to report and replace it.
Here is how to report your lost prepaid card:
- Go to Postmates contact support website
- Then report that your card has been lost or stolen by filling the form correctly
And here is how to request to replace your card:
- Go to Postmates store website
- Select the prepaid card, then click “Add to Cart”
- You can have an additional card if you want. Since the card is very important, you might want to have an extra card
